Palm Cove is a holiday destination in Far North Queensland full of famous Paperbark Melaleucas. Some of these trees are over 400 years old, and are amongst the largest of their species in Australia, reaching 40 metres high and up to 10 metres in circumference. These Melaleucas grow in very specific and special ecosystems, and that’s the reason why they are concentrated in some areas and just meters away from them there are no Melaleucas. These trees are famous, and the local community and businesses are very protective of these old giants, so hotels, footpaths and landscaping were developed around them.
